Review of DHC Product Samples

I received these samples from DHC Beauty and I wanted to review them for you. My blog is so new that I don’t receive any compensation for products I talk about. If you want to try some DHC products, just go to their website and ask for a catalog and they will enclose some samples for you.

l. Deep Cleansing Oil. I’ve been wanting to try oil cleansing since I’ve been seeing oil cleansers talked about on blogs and the internet. You can make your own for very little money…just look up oil cleansers on the internet. I’m basically more lazy than frugal so when I got a sample of DHC’s Cleansing oil, I was very happy to try it. I did a great job of cleaning my skin! It didn’t leave it oily…just soft and clean! A winner! I will probably buy this and see how it does over time.

2. Eye Bright. I liked it. It seemed to work fine for baggage and dark circles. I’m not sure if it’s better than my Anew Clinical because I’d have to use it for a while to see if there are differences between the products. I’d say another winner!

3. Q10 Cream. Another one I liked and would like to try. Q10 is supposed to be great for your skin so long term use would let me know if it’s better than what I’m now using.

4. Velvet Coat. I’m in the minority on this. Everyone who reviewed on the website raved about it but I wasn’t impressed. It’s a primer but the Avon Magic Primer works better for me. The Avon one makes my skin smooth and when I put on my makeup, my makeup looked natural. With the Velvet Coat you could see the makeup sitting on top of my skin. It almost looked powdery It could be the type of makeup I use. I like to look like I’m not wearing foundation…just that my skin looks good. Maybe another type of foundation would work better with this.

All reviews are my own opinions. Try things for yourself and see what works for you.

1. Tan cardigan. I also got a yellow cardigan in the same style. 2. Black with white polka dots sheer blouse. 2 floral on cream sheer blouse. 4. Black and white striped dress. I love the detailing with the stripes in sections.

I love to mix high and low end clothes. I buy what I think is cute…it doesn’t have to be expensive.

Beauty Isn’t Skin Deep

Beauty isn’t skin deep but having  good skin can’t hurt.  It’s so important to take good care of your skin.  I thought I’d show you a few of my favorite products.  I’m very lucky to have had oily skin.  I was also fortunate not to have many breakouts when I was younger.  I’ve always taken good care of my skin and my skin is in pretty good shape.  I have a tiny bit of sun damage and a few wrinkles but I’m doing well for my age.  My skin is more like normal or combo skin as I get older.

I use the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Scrub almost every day.  It’s a very gentle exfoliant which gets rid of roughness and flakiness.  Next comes the Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser.  After cleansing I use the Anew Clinical Eye Lift.  The gel is for your eyelids and the cream is for under eyes.  This is even better than Avon’s newer  eye lift products.  It really does a great job at getting rid of any baggage you might have when you wake up.  At least it gets rid of mine!  Then comes the Garnier Ultra Lift Serum and Moisturizer.  I like to keep things simple so to have a skin serum and moisturizer in one product it great.  This is how I care for my skin every day.  If I’m not leaving the house, I don’t wear makeup so that my skin can “breathe.”

If you have products that you like and they work for you, keep using them.  I’ve used department store brands like Estee Lauder and Lancome and these work just as well.  Next time I’ll give you some make up tips.  Sometimes less is more as we mature.

In The Beginning

I believe all women can be beautiful.  Beauty doesn’t depend on youth or size.  Beauty comes from having an open mind, an open heart and loving yourself as much as you love others.  Beauty comes from making the most of your assets and downplaying  what you aren’t quite as pleased with.  I’m a plus size woman.  I’m not 20 or 30 or even 40 but I still love fashion and want to look my best.  This blog is for women like me.   We deserve to have pretty clothes and makeup and hair.  We are beautiful plus size women.
